Machine-friendly Napier grass harvesting on a permanent RainGun field for CBG bio fuel

Napier grown on a 45-day cutting cycle needs the right harvester for your scale. Cutting the crop before it fully matures keeps it tender, and every machine below fells the grass in a clean line on the field for easy collection — no special line-plantation required.

Manual fodder harvester — petrol brush-cutter for Napier grass, 8 kg, for small farms

SMALL FARMS1. Manual Fodder Harvester

Our most economical harvesting method — a petrol brush-cutter with special cutting-blade attachments, weighing just 8 kg. The weight is balanced between the engine and the front cutting blade, so the operator handles it easily and cuts without fatigue. It cuts 2 tons/hour on only 750 ml of fuel — the cheapest confirmed harvesting cost.

Best where the daily requirement is below 10 tons and the Napier farm is under 5 acres — not for large biomass plants. It uses a high-quality 2-stroke 43cc or 53cc engine, essential because the RPM drops from 8,000 to 2,500 within 2 seconds during cutting, placing heavy load on the connecting rod. Even 10-foot, irregularly planted Napier is harvested easily.

Tractor-mounted reaper harvesting Napier grass at medium capacity for CBG bio fuel

MEDIUM CAPACITY2. Tractor Reaper

For farms of 10 to 20 acres that need around 20 tons/day, a tractor-run reaper is the medium-capacity choice. It harvests 5 to 7 tons/hour, handles Napier up to 10 feet, and fells all the grass in a clean line — so no special line-plantation is needed.

A 6 to 8 foot reaper attaches to any 30–50 HP tractor you already own — we recommend buying it as your own implement rather than hiring. After harvesting, the grass moves on to chipping and then fine chipping for easy digestion at the plant.

LARGE CBG PLANTS3. Reaper-Cum-Chaffer — Big Harvesters

Large CBG plants producing 3 to 5 tons of gas per day need 50 to 80 tons of chopped Napier daily — impossible by manual or tractor harvesting. A self-propelled 60 HP (or 120 HP) reaper-cum-chaffer harvests up to 80 tons/day, covering a 6 to 10 foot width at 4–6 km/hour.

It harvests and chaffs simultaneously, collecting the chopped grass in an onboard tank of up to 1 ton. When the tank is full it loads directly onto a lorry that goes straight to the CBG plant for the fine-shredding stage. For easy running, the field should be laid out in ½ to 1 acre bund-free plots.
