Upgrade your ground with the advanced RainGun concept — no inner points or pipelines inside the ground.
Advanced RainGun irrigation — all delivery points outside the boundary line
Ground lawn irrigation is the biggest headache for a cricket or football ground maintainer. Conventional pop up sprinkler systems put a pipeline network and sprinkler points inside the playing surface — which means uneven wetting, over-watered patches that turn into pits, grass loss, and digging into the field every time something needs repair.
Thumba's 2026 concept removes the problem instead of managing it. Advanced RainGuns are positioned on the outer boundary lines, with underground valves only outside the field of play. Nothing is buried inside the ground, so nothing inside the ground ever needs maintenance.
Extra outlets in the outer area with flexible hoses and RainGun stands cover the inner ground as a temporary setup when needed — still with no water outlet points inside the playing surface.
Thumba Concept 2026 vs. the systems currently used in most grounds
| S.No | Thumba Concept — 2026 | Other Irrigation Concepts in the Current Market |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Advanced RainGun with underground valves only on the outer boundary lines. | Old pop up sprinkler system having a pipeline network inside the ground. |
| 2 | No inner pipelines and sprinkler points — so no field maintenance needs. | Pipelines laid inside the ground — much more issues during repair attempts. |
| 3 | World class RainGun irrigation technology. We can erect for all types of sports grounds. | Old pop up sprinklers used in most of the grounds. |
| 4 | Designed to meet all international parameters. No need to alter for the match schedule. | Many parameters not fulfilled without alterations during the match schedule. |
| 5 | No field maintenance before a match starts. | More maintenance — point fillings, closing of valves and civil works. |
| 6 | Only a 10 HP Thumba make high pressure pumpset is used, for any size ground — because we are game changers. | More than 15 HP motor used for the same field, with automatic solenoid valves, complicated pipeline networks and electronic devices — all of which add maintenance. |
| 7 | Very economic method — saves 50% cost in irrigation equipment. | More cost, and much more maintenance cost. |
| 8 | Only ONE person is enough to maintain our system. | At least 2 persons required. |
The no-pipelines-inside-the-ground design is not a theory. It was the defining constraint of Thumba's first international project — the Bamako Cricket Ground in Mali, West Africa, handed over to the Bamako Sport Club authorities in 2023. The client demanded that every pipeline and delivery point sit outside the boundary line, and the ground is irrigated by just 2 RainGuns at 30 m radius each, running on a 10 HP submersible pumpset at 1000 LPM and 5 kg/cm².
Thumba has completed 20+ sports ground projects to date, and every one of them is designed, manufactured and erected in-house.

No. The entire Thumba concept is built around having zero inner pipelines and zero sprinkler points inside the ground. Advanced RainGuns are positioned on the outer boundary lines with underground valves only outside the field of play, so the playing surface is never cut, filled or disturbed.
Pop up sprinkler systems need a pipeline network laid inside the ground with sprinkler points across the playing surface. Every repair means digging into the field, and before each match the points need filling, valves closing and civil work. With RainGuns on the boundary there is no in-field maintenance at all before a match starts.
Only a 10 HP Thumba make high pressure pumpset is used, for any size ground. Conventional pop up systems on the same field typically need more than 15 HP along with automatic solenoid valves, complicated pipeline networks and electronic devices — each of which adds to both cost and maintenance.
Yes. The concept is designed to meet all international parameters, with no need to alter anything for a match schedule. Conventional systems often cannot meet several parameters without alterations during the match schedule.
Only one person is enough to operate and maintain the Thumba system. Conventional in-ground systems typically need at least two people.
All types — cricket grounds, football fields, athletic tracks, hockey grounds, academies, stadium outfields and school or club grounds. RainGun models are selected by ground size, from small sports fields up to large international grounds.
