Economical temporary irrigation for 1–4 acres. Ideal for leased land, small farms and drought emergencies.
Portable 1.5HP RainGun System — live operation demo
For farms below 2 acres, small agriculture lands, or leased land where a permanent raingun system is not practical, a portable economic raingun or sprinkler system is the ideal choice. Same irrigation benefits at a fraction of the cost — low initial investment, minimum pipelines, and easy to move. Can run on single-phase electric pump sets, portable diesel/kerosene engines, or solar setups.
Though it is cheap, some limitations are there in this system. 1. Leakages in pipe joints and Fittings. 2. Labour Oriented.
If Grid Power available areas, we can go for high pressure electric motor operated rainguns system based on crop. Following are the popular models.

Normally cheap and best method of Rain gun irrigation is runs by electric power only. But in case electric power not available means you can use diesel or kerosene engine operated small pumps to cover 75 to 100 feet radius. Due to mechanical power the efficiency is less than electric operation. So you must try from below 30 feet depth water sources like ground level water pond, tanks or 30 feet open wells for pumping the water. Here you can get minimum of 2.5 to 3 kg/cm2 pressure in rain guns.
For engine operated system you must select mini sprinklers in multiple nos or basic model rain gun as single piece to get better irrigation and uniform wetting. For 3.5 hp kerosene engine you can connect 20 nos of mini sprinklers or 50 nos of micro sprinklers or only one no of mini rain gun with 60 feet radius coverage.
When compared to electric power total operating cost is more. But in remote areas this is the only option for temporary sprinkling irrigation for one or two time during drought seasons to save the crop from failure by water shortage.
