2 HP Single Phase Chaff Cutter cum Pulverizer · Since 2007 · 10 Cows & 50 Goats · Pappampatti, Palani, Tamil Nadu
Sold once in 2007. Still cutting fodder in 2026.
Thiru Kamalanadhan of Pappampatti, Palani, Tamil Nadu is our first customer in the dairy sector — and the very first buyer of a Thumba high speed chaff cutter. He came to us through his elder brother, Thiru Amindhanadhan, for whom we had installed a permanent RainGun system in 2004. That one irrigation project inside the family led directly to the first machine we ever sold to a dairy farm.
At the time, Thiru Kamalanadhan was running 10+ cows and 50+ goats on his farm. He was looking for a high quality chaff cutter with a pulverizer, at minimum cost. That combination did not exist in the market: no other machine then available offered dual purpose use. A farmer with both cattle and goats had to buy two machines, or manage without one of them.
We introduced our first 2 HP single phase model to his farm in 2007, built to do both jobs from one motor: cow fodder chaffing and goat feed pulverizing. It cut fodder at 1 ton per hour and pulverized feed at 80 kg per hour — running on an ordinary single phase supply, with no three phase connection needed.
He was very happy with the machine's build quality, work performance, durability and high speed operation. Over the years that followed, he referred many customers to us on the strength of how the machine performed on his own farm — word-of-mouth that carried our chaff cutters across the region long before we had a website.

Thiru Kamalanadhan used the machine on his own farm for around twelve years. About seven years ago he resold it to a nearby dairy farm — and it is still working there in good condition today, 19 years after we built it. A machine that outlives its first owner's farming career, and is worth buying second hand, is the clearest durability test we know.
Three years after the chaff cutter, in 2010, he came back and bought our 1 HP high pressure cleaning pump for washing down his cattle shed. Like the chaff cutter, it has simply kept working — the pump is still in service on his farm in 2026, sixteen years later.
Two machines, two decades, one farm. Our current shed cleaning models are the 1.5 HP and 2 HP dung cleaning pumps.
Thiru Kamalanadhan's farm is where our dairy equipment line started. Every chaff cutter model we build today — from the single phase 2 HP up to the 15 ton per hour three phase machines — traces back to that first dual purpose unit built for ten cows and fifty goats at Pappampatti.
A year later, in 2008, Mr. Shanmugam of Putherichal, Palladam took the same idea to commercial scale — using a 5 HP three phase chaff cutter with pulverizer to make all of his own concentrated feed for a 30-cow desi milk dairy. And in 2014 we pushed the single phase design to its limit for Mr. Sediappu at Puthur, Karnataka — 2 tons per hour of chaff cutting on an ordinary 220 V supply.
The 2 HP single phase chaff cutter cum pulverizer we supplied to Thiru Kamalanadhan in 2007 is still cutting fodder in 2026 — 19 years later. He used it on his own dairy and goat farm for about 12 years, then resold it to a nearby dairy farm, where it continues to work in good condition.
The 2 HP single phase model supplied to Thiru Kamalanadhan in 2007 chaffs fodder at 1 ton per hour and pulverizes feed at 80 kg per hour. It runs on an ordinary single phase 220 V domestic supply, so it needs no three phase connection — the reason it suits small and medium dairy and goat farms.
Yes. Thiru Kamalanadhan needed cow fodder chaffing and goat feed pulverizing on the same farm, and in 2007 no other machine on the market offered both in one unit at an affordable price. Thumba's chaff cutter cum pulverizer does both jobs from a single 2 HP single phase motor.
Yes. Thiru Kamalanadhan ran 10+ cows and 50+ goats on this single 2 HP machine. At 1 ton per hour of chaffing and 80 kg per hour of pulverizing, a mixed herd of that size needs only a short daily run of the machine.
It washes down cattle shed floors and animals with a high pressure jet, clearing dung and slurry in minutes instead of hours of manual scraping. Thiru Kamalanadhan added a 1 HP high pressure cleaning pump in 2010, three years after his chaff cutter, and that pump is still in service on his farm in 2026. Our current models are 1.5 HP and 2 HP.
Tell us how many animals you feed and what power supply you have — we'll match you to the right chaff cutter cum pulverizer, just as we did for Thiru Kamalanadhan in 2007.
