The waste from 70 cows travels 1200 feet and comes back as fodder.
Mr. Mukundan of Sengalpattu, Tamil Nadu is a well known agriculturist as well as a famous dairy farmer — known particularly for his Gujarat-variety Tharparkar desi cows. By 2016 he was running 70+ cows producing 100 litres of desi milk a day, all of it sold in the local market as fresh milk at a high value.
A premium desi milk business puts pressure on everything upstream: the fodder has to be good, the shed has to be clean, and 70 animals produce a great deal of waste. Mr. Mukundan solved all three with one idea — treat the waste as the input, not the problem. Four Thumba systems close that loop on his farm.
His first purchase was our 7.5 HP high speed chaff cutter cum pulverizer, sized for 70-animal fodder cutting.
The routine is direct: he harvests napier from his own farm, carries it to the dairy and feeds it straight into the machine — no intermediate handling, no drying, no storage step. The machine chaffs at an extraordinary 3 tons per hour output, which is what makes feeding a 70-head herd manageable without a large labour team.

As Mr. Mukundan puts it, fodder cultivation for 70 animals is a challenge in this sector — the herd eats every day, so the fodder crop cannot be allowed to fail or fall off in quality. He uses our permanent RainGun systems for his fodder and sugarcane, and reports better yield and better quality as a result.
A permanent installation matters at this scale: nothing is shifted between waterings, so irrigating 22 acres does not become a daily labour job on top of running the dairy.

Crucially, nothing is washed away. All the urine and dung is stored in a 20,000 litre capacity pit — which is where this farm stops looking like a normal dairy and starts looking like a fertilizer operation.

Here we supplied our 1 HP sewage mud pump for liquid bio fertilizer pumping, and laid a separate 1200 foot, 2.5 inch pipeline dedicated purely to dairy waste liquid.
That dedicated line is the design decision that makes the whole thing work. Slurry never touches the irrigation pipework or its valves, so nothing clogs, and the fertilizer system and the RainGun system run independently of each other.
The liquid reaches all 22 acres of his field, where it is used as organic fertilizer easily. The outcome, in his own assessment: excellent results obtained without chemical fertilizer anywhere in his whole farm. The napier that feeds the cows is grown on what the cows produce.

Mr. Mukundan's farm is the clearest closed-loop dairy we have built. For a comparable multi-system farm see Mr. Vivek's 30-cow setup at Anamalai, Pollachi, and for the fodder side at even higher yields, Thiru Sampath's 250 T/acre Super Napier farm at Tanjore.
On Mr. Mukundan's farm at Sengalpattu it has, completely. Dung and urine from 70 cows collect in a 20,000 litre pit, and a 1 HP Thumba sewage mud pump sends the liquid through 1200 feet of 2.5 inch pipeline to all 22 acres as bio fertilizer. Excellent results have been obtained across the whole farm with no chemical fertilizer at all.
With a dedicated line, not the irrigation line. On Mr. Mukundan's farm we laid a separate 1200 foot 2.5 inch pipeline purely for dairy waste liquid, driven by a 1 HP sewage mud pump. Keeping the bio fertilizer line separate means slurry never has to pass through irrigation pipework or valves, so nothing clogs and the two systems can run independently.
Fodder cultivation for 70 animals is a serious challenge. Mr. Mukundan grows napier on his own land under permanent RainGun systems, harvests it, carries it to the dairy and feeds it directly into a 7.5 HP Thumba high speed chaff cutter cum pulverizer, which chaffs at 3 tons per hour — enough to keep a 70-animal herd fed without a large labour team.
Because fodder for a large herd has to be reliable, not seasonal. Mr. Mukundan uses permanent RainGun systems for his fodder and sugarcane and reports better yield and better quality — the even, rain-like coverage suits dense fodder crops like napier, and a permanent installation means no equipment shifting between waterings.
Mr. Mukundan uses a 20,000 litre capacity pit. Everything washed off the shed floor and the animals by the 1.5 HP dung cleaning pump kit — dung and urine together — collects there, and is then pumped out as liquid bio fertilizer rather than treated as waste to dispose of.
