Dust Is Not Only an Air Problem

Dust is a major issue in air pollution, earth pollution and water pollution alike. Once it is airborne it does not stay in the air — it settles onto land and into water, well beyond the boundary of the site that produced it. The main causes are vehicle mobility, mining activity and excessive wind velocity.

Where the Dust Comes From on a Mining Site

  • Mine blasting
  • Blue metal movement
  • Crushing of mining materials
  • Vehicle movement across mining sites
  • Wind above 15 km/hr across stock yards

Each of those produces dust in a different place and in a different way, which is why a single approach rarely covers a whole site. A properly matched dust suppression system has to control dust movement — or the mixing of dust with atmospheric air — at the point it is generated.

What We Do

We have designed two types of dust suppression system, already erected in 300+ mining industries all over India since 2004. Most sites need both.

System 1 · At the Machine

Machine Side Dust Control

More than 85% of dust is controlled by our own designed mist spray nozzles, using our water mist technology. The other 15% is heavy enough to drop out of the air within about 20 feet of travel under its own weight — so between the two, very little leaves the machine.

Our misting systems capture airborne dust particles in the space around the machine, before they can migrate into the surrounding environment.

  • Only 1 HP own-make high pressure motor — for mining industries of any size up to 200 TPH
  • 4,000–8,000 litres of water for a 16-hour plant running day
  • Consumption varies with stone hardness and climate — rain and wind velocity

RainGun Dust Suppression for Roads & Stock Yards

As a piece of high class liquid engineering, we designed a high pressure RainGun system for stock yards and vehicle-running roads. Based on your stock area or road length we select the suitable power pumpset and pipeline diameters.

A RainGun generates real back force, so we provide high strength concrete or PVC concrete pillars at spacings compatible with the system — the mounting is part of the design, not an afterthought.

  • RainGun models from 1 inch to 2.5 inches
  • Discharge 70 LPM to 1600 LPM, by motor capacity and area covered
  • Own-make 10 HP submersible high pressure pumpset — 100% successful performance in almost all projects

All projects are customised to your requirements and model selection only. No two crushers, quarries or stock yards have the same layout, tonnage or wind exposure — so we size every system to the site rather than selling a standard package.

We started this work in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu in 2004 and have since completed more than 30 projects in the region for members of the same crusher owners' association. Between them, those installations cover almost 80% of the mining industries in the region. About half are repeat customers coming back with extension projects; the rest are new industries. Some take machine side dust control, some road side dust suppression, and many take both.

The most important of them — the association's own road project — was built in two stretches. The first put 100 RainGuns along 1.2 km of road. It was then extended with 200 more RainGuns in 2026, and handed over complete with GSM on/off control. Today 4.5 km of road is dust controlled every day, and one person operates the entire system.

A heavy water shortage area. There simply is not enough fresh water for dust suppression on this scale, so the association runs a separate water tanker lorry to bring in waste salt water from nearby sources — which is why the system had to be built to tolerate poor quality water from the start.

Our first dust suppression project in the Madurai region came in 2008, through a contact of a Coimbatore crusher owner — the association work in Coimbatore is what opened the region. Four projects were finished in that same year, and we have completed more than 15 in the region as of 2026.

The demand here is different. Madurai customers ask mainly for machine side dust control during the crushing of blue metals. Only 3 of the projects have both machine side and road side systems installed; the rest are machine side only. Typical crushers run 100 to 150 TPH for an average of 16 hours a day, drawing their water from nearby borewells or the quarry pit.

High Discharge Stainless Steel Submersible Pumpset

Quarry water is dirty water, and it destroys ordinary pumps. We supply a stainless steel submersible pumpset built for it — wear resistant beyond any pump in the market, and fitted with a special guard that protects the motor from everyday blasting.

  • 20 to 30 HP · stainless steel construction
  • 60,000 litres per hour discharge
  • 200 feet vertical pumping capacity
  • Specially designed and erected in 2 Madurai quarries handling 10 lakh litres a day through the rainy season

Frequently Asked Questions

What causes dust at a mining or crusher site?

Five things account for most of it: mine blasting, blue metal movement, crushing of mining materials, vehicle movement across the site, and wind velocity above 15 km/hr lifting material off stock yards. Dust is not only an air pollution problem — it settles into soil and water too, which is why it has to be controlled where it is generated rather than after it has spread.

How much dust can a water mist system actually control?

More than 85% is captured by our own designed mist spray nozzles using our water mist technology. The remaining 15% is heavy enough that it drops out of the air within about 20 feet of travel under its own weight. The mist captures airborne particles in the space around the machine before they can migrate into the surrounding environment.

How much water does a dust suppression system use per day?

Typically 4,000 to 8,000 litres for a 16-hour plant running day. The actual figure depends on stone hardness and on climatic conditions — rain and wind velocity both change how much misting a site needs.

What motor is needed for machine side dust control on a large crusher?

Only 1 HP. We use our own make high pressure motor, and a single 1 HP unit serves mining industries of any size up to 200 TPH capacity. The performance comes from nozzle design and water mist technology rather than from raw pumping power, which is what keeps the running cost low.

What RainGun sizes are used for road and stock yard dust suppression?

We have many models from 1 inch to 2.5 inches, discharging from 70 LPM to 1600 LPM depending on motor capacity and the area to be covered. For almost all projects we use our own make 10 HP submersible high pressure pumpset, which has given 100% successful performance. Pumpset and pipeline diameter are selected from your stock area or road length.

Do RainGuns need special mountings on an industrial site?

Yes. A RainGun generates significant back force, so we provide high strength concrete or PVC concrete pillars at spacings compatible with the system. On a working site with vehicle traffic and blasting vibration, the mounting is as much a part of the design as the gun itself.

What pump handles dirty quarry water for dust suppression?

We supply a high discharge stainless steel submersible pumpset of 20 to 30 HP, delivering 60,000 litres per hour with 200 feet of vertical pumping capacity. It is wear resistant beyond any pump in the market for dirty water, and comes with a special guard protecting the motor from everyday blasting. Two were specially designed and erected in Madurai region quarries handling 10 lakh litres a day through the rainy season.

Can a dust suppression system run on poor quality or salt water?

It has to, in a water-scarce region. The crusher owners' association we work with in the Coimbatore region operates in a heavy water shortage area and runs a separate water tanker lorry bringing waste salt water from nearby sources. Systems for sites like that are designed around the water actually available rather than assuming a clean supply.
